CRIMINAL JUSTICE TECHNOLOGY
H.C.S.O. DEGREE PROGRAM

In a continuing effort to serve the needs of students in technical programs, Hillsborough Community College has created a special degree program for deputies and civilian employees of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. The Criminal Justice Technology Undergraduate Program of Hillsborough Community College realizes that many members of the Sheriff's Office are desirous of obtaining a college degree but are hampered by a work schedule involving shift work and rotations that makes attendance at regular classes impossible. Therefore, this special program has been set up.

The Criminal Justice Technology Undergraduate Program offers college classes specifically for members of the Sheriff's Office. These special classes are generally scheduled every other Saturday or every other Friday according to the A/B rotation system and are usually offered to both rotations. These classes are generally taught by H.C.S.O. instructors that meet the credentialing requirements of ther Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and are usually offered at the Sheriff's Office Falkenburg Facility.

The classes offered are criminal justice classes needed for the A.S. and A.A.S. Criminal Justice Technology degrees. However, sometimes General Education classes needed for those degrees are also offered.

Members of the Sheriff's Office that are interested can contact HCC for more information. To take these classes, HCSO members must complete an application for admission:

and then can register for classes. A schedule of the current HCSO special classes can be linked to below:

HCSO members should also consider regular criminal justice classes, some of which are on weekends and are compatible with the A/B rotation and others, the day or night classes, may be compatible with certain shifts:

Additionally, the Criminal Justice Program offers On-Line Classes in Criminal Justice:

Registration for these classes is limited and restricted to members of the Sheriff's Office and therefore you cannot register through normal student registration procedures.
