Teachers

As a student goes through school they remember both the good things and the bad things. Most of the time we remember our teachers who have made an impact on our lives, good or bad. One of my fondest memories of grade school is my second grade teacher. Not only was she a teacher but; she later became a friend. I also have had a teacher who made me want to leave school and never come back. This was my forth grade teacher.

When I was in second grade I had the most wonderful teacher. We had our set routine everyday and at the end of the week if you were good and had all five of your smiley faces that were handed out at the beginning of the week you got to choose a prize out of the "prize bag". When I was in second grade I loved going to school and I loved to learn. As I got older I would go back and visit my second grade teacher whenever I had the chance. Once I moved to another state I would send her a Christmas card every year just to let her know that I still thought about her. When I was applying for colleges I had to write many essays and one that I wrote was why I wanted to become a teacher and my main point was because I wanted to be just like my second grade teacher and to be able to touch the heart of a young child like she did.

As we all do, I too have had that teacher that we hate to talk about and that we pray that our little siblings get as there teacher so they can go through they same torture you did. My forth grade teacher was the typical mean teacher. She even dressed the part. She had red hair, tiny glasses with squinty eyes and she carried around a pointer and a magnified glass to make sure your handwriting was perfect. The one thing I remember about her was the way she taught us children cursive writing. Every day after our lesson in cursive she would take out her magnified glass and inspect your paper. One day I forgot to dot an "i" on my paper and she made me redo the whole thing. I could not wait to move on to the fifth grade.

After many years of school I have found a love for children and have grown to admire all of the teachers that dedicate their lives to the children. I hope to become a kindergarten or first grade teacher. I would love to spend everyday helping a young person learn and grow. I love children more than anything and I feel that teaching children is one of the best ways to spend your time with them. When I become a teacher I am sure many of the things I have learned throughout the years from my teachers will be seen in my own classroom.
